Axel R. Cerny

Over the last decade, Axel R. Cerny has successfully served the legal needs of thousands of families and individuals in DuPage County and the surrounding Chicagoland area. He is a premier residential real estate attorney in the area, as he year over year can be found at the top in the Chicago suburbs for number of residential transactions closed. He further maintains a robust estate planning practice by consulting with hundreds of individuals and families each year, specifically identifying family dynamics and needs, and then drafting a variety of strategic Trusts, Wills, Powers of Attorney and other related documents. This has allowed numerous individuals and families to provide clarity in the present for their loved ones, in preparation for a time when they are no longer able to make their wishes clear. Axel’s unique strength in creating estate plans for families comes from his experience in the courtroom, where he litigated for years as a criminal prosecutor, and since then has litigated many Wills and Trusts in the probate courts. Axel’s clients benefit from his knowledge of how estate planning documents work in the real world, when under the scrutiny of judicial review. Based upon his courtroom experience, Axel also handles probate/trust estate administration and criminal/traffic cases.

Axel joined the firm, formerly named “Mullen & Winthers, P.C.”, in 2015, after litigating as an Assistant State’s Attorney with the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office for two years. As an Assistant State’s Attorney he gained extensive courtroom experience in handling cases from the charging of the crime through the reaching of a verdict following a bench or jury trial. Beginning in private practice with Mullen & Winthers, P.C. (now “Antoniolli, Cerny & Winthers, P.C.”) allowed Axel the opportunity to grow in a practice that has been serving the DuPage County community for over 35 years. Today, Antoniolli, Cerny & Winthers, P.C. offers Axel’s clients a full infrastructure of legal professionals and services, assuring clients they have “downtown” cutting edge legal representation, while maintaining the personal relationships of a smaller local firm. Axel takes pride in maintaining relationship with his clients for life, with a vast majority of his representation originating from personal referrals.

Axel is an active member of the DuPage County Bar Association. He and his wife, Courtney, along with their three children, Steele, Oakley and Beau, reside in Wheaton, and attend the Wheaton Bible Church in West Chicago. Axel enjoys being active in his community, as you are likely to be able to catch him running or biking with his kids on the Illinois Prairie Path, attending and serving in local events and charities, as well as many kids sporting and dance/gymnastic events for years to come!
